Wedding Reception Part 1

The reception was better than I ever imagined it to be.  It was everything I wanted, but fifty times better.  I have to thank my mom, my sisters, my mother-in-law and her friend Angie, my sister-in-law, my dad and father-in-law, brothers-in-law, my aunt and cousins, Ben’s aunt and cousins, and so many others for how beautifully everything turned out.  We had a LOT of brainstorming and setting up from a lot of different people and we were able to borrow a lot of wonderful things, which made it so beautiful and perfect.
I decided on a country themed wedding, which made sense, as we were having the reception out in the country in good old Oakley, UT.  I wanted it to be rustic, homey, creative, cute and very country.  Our main dish at the wedding was pie.  Because Ben and I LOVE pie.  And it went well with the country theme.  We also had hot chocolate, fruit, and amazing cocoa dusted chocolate truffles.
My dad finds old bottles on his job sites in Santa Barbara, so I had him bring those up so we could hang them around.  That was one of my favorite details at the wedding.  The day before the wedding, my mom and I went to Costco and picked out all kinds of flowers.  We didn’t have much of a theme going, so we just picked out what we liked, whether they went together or not.  I LOVE how the flowers turned out. The bright colors made all the difference.
My mom and I came up with the idea of giving mini jam jars as favors.  We had a lot of help making the jam too.  Thanks to Pia, Aunt Mary, Jaycee, Angie, Susan, Emma, Jamie, and Mom! I love how everything turned out and I’m so grateful for these photos, because honestly, I didn’t see a lot of this on the actual wedding day.  Too busy being a bride!
Wedding planning was so hard and time consuming, but it was definitely worth it to see it all come together into a dream outdoor wedding.

Just Married

After we finished hellos and congrats and thank yous and hugs and photos with our family and friends, we had a blast going around the temple grounds with Travis.  I love the Salt Lake Temple so much.  It has so much history and it is so beautiful and ornate, with lots of subtle carvings and decoration.

And by the way...Happy Thanksgiving!
